LMCC Opposes KTUL Channel 14 Request
The Land Mobile Communications Council (LMCC) has filed in opposition to the request of KTUL to substitute its current channel 10 with channel 14 in the DTV Table of Allotments for Tulsa, Oklahoma. The LMCC said the KTUL request “poses an unacceptably high risk of causing harmful interference to protected land mobile operations” and urged the FCC to consider whether UHF channels other than channel 14 were available for KTUL’s use. The LMCC has identified more than 140 Public Safety and Industrial/Business land mobile systems within ninety (90) miles of KTUL, that could experience harmful interference from an immediately adjacent television station at channel 14. It questioned how KTUL could avoid desensing their land mobile receivers when transmitting at its proposed 1,000 kilowatts. The LMCC is in the process of notifying land mobile licensees about the pending KTUL request.
The LMCC also referenced the multiple co-channel and adjacent channel land mobile interference issues with TV stations, including channel 14, in other markets, which remain pending before the FCC for resolution.
Replies to the KTUL request are due on April 26.
